Sun-soaked pictures at Connolly - Financial Times

In 1959, photographer Paolo di Paolo and writer (and later film director) Pier Paolo Pasolini toured the Amalfi coast and beyond in a Fiat 1100, documenting the milling crowds and sunbathers for Italy’s Successo magazine. More than 60 years on, Julien Drach has retraced their steps, capturing similar scenes of stripy parasols, piles of lemons, ice buckets of freshly-caught fish, and plunging cliffs across Naples, Viareggio and Capri. “The colours recall postcards left too long in the sun,” says Isabel Ettedgui, owner of Connolly, of the images, which are currently on display at the brand’s Clifford Street store.
